CFEL: Max Planck Society

At CFEL the Max Planck Society joins forces with the University of Hamburg to operate the Max Planck Research Department for Structural Dynamics. Furthermore the MPG has established an Advanced Study Group.



Max Planck Research Department for Structural Dynamics at the University of Hamburg

The Max Planck Research Department for Structural Dynamics at the University of Hamburg was established in 2008. It is supported by the Max Planck Society and the Freie and Hansestadt Hamburg. The department currently has two divisions with six leading scientists:


  Condensed Matter Division


  Atomic Resolution Division




Max Planck Society Advanced Study Group

The Max Planck Advanced Study Group (ASG ) is an association of Max Planck society
(MPG) departments embedded in a strong interdisciplinary network within the MPG as an institution with the rights of a virtual department. The ASG Hamburg, a core group based at CFEL in Hamburg, ties together and supports the activities of the participating Max-Planck institutes.
